Colombo | Flight 5

Start: 07:06 Uhr (MEZ)
Landung: 10:23 Uhr (MEZ)

Ich freue mich sehr darauf, Dr. Reijntje's School for the Deaf wieder einmal zu besuchen.

After the stresses and strains of the flight to Trivandrum and after a short recreational break, we now head for Colombo, Sri Lanka. Compared to our last flight, Colombo is just a stone's throw away. I am really looking forward to seeing Dr. Reijntje's School for the Deaf again.

We leave Kovalam Beach Hotel with a taxi at 11 o'clock and drive to the airport. Our agent Bobby Po is waiting at the International Terminal already. Trivandrum has two terminals: Domestic and International. People who have come to pick up someone and those whose who don't have a flight ticket are not allowed into the airport so that there is a crowd waiting in front of the airport. We pass several securtiy checks in the almost empty airport - they even find a small pair of scissors of mine which I have to leave with them.

Then we enter the bus to our aircraft and drive about 20 minutes - the airport is gigantic. We prepare the aircraft for the 1 hour 10 min flight to Colombo. After that we have to wait for an ATC clearance number so that we climb our plane at 10 to 1300 local time finally to start the engine and the air condition. ATC clearance is granted and we are ready for Taxi - Runway 32 and a bit of backtrack. Clear for take-off and we lift off the ground. Flightlevel 110 since the flight is short.

The controller transfers us to Sri Lanka - ATIS points us to Runway 22 and we start the approach already. Vercors for ILS 22 and there is the runway. A bit of Taxi and we are in position 27 where we belong.. We turn everything off - and there is our agent already. Taking only the necessary luggage with us, we climb the bus for the Immagration counter. They are fast and so we sit in the taxi to the hotel in no time.
