Easter Island | Update 13

Update vom 09.10.2017

Was tun?

 Update from 09.10.2017

... still 76 days until Christmas ...

We feel that something is going to happen in the coming week!
Everyone is positive about it and I think we are finally going to have success!

In the meantime we have met so many nice people who accompany us with their good wishes. They have told us how inventive the islanders are:

When the entire electricity network of the island collapsed again and the emergency power station of the airport was hit, the runway was in complete darkness! A passenger machine was on its way and had crossed the "point off no-return", no other airport could be reached, so the only airport that in reach was the airport on the island. The pilot had to land rather sooner than later but there were no landing lights.

For the correct orientation during the approach and landing on the runway, however, he needs landing lights - to know the distance to the ground and to hold the aircraft in the middle of the track. What to do? Immediately all vehicle owners were asked to come to the airport immediately on the radio to give the runway an emergency lighting.

The population responded immediately:
In a hurry, the few cars and motorbikes were placed in a row next to each other and held their lights on the slope! The pilot then reported that he had the runway in sight and landed safely!

Well, people like these surely can help us with a few hundred liters of AVGAS...

Ooooh, I just get to know: Tomorrow is a holiday here ... Well, then the success wave starts just on Tuesday ... and we can rest in the meantime ...
