Easter Island | Update 01

Mittwoch 06.09.17

Meanwhile, we have moved to a small apartment not far from the port. The weather is currently very unstable and short rain showers and sun change hourly. The atmosphere and mood on the island is very pleasant. The people here are friendly and relaxed. The place is not too big with 6000 inhabitants only but with many small shops which are beside the small supermercados with objects of art directed to the tourists of which the island mainly lives.

The island itself has a sad history of the Moais which have created the mighty stone statues for their chieftains, which have lasted until today and bring 40,000 visitors to the island per year, see "History of the Easter Island"

I asked the receptionist of our old pension about the TV station and he took me to the station directly – it was only 200 meters away. There, I met the mayor of the place, Pedro Pablo Edmunds Paoa, also Alcalde in Spanish. He was immediately interested in our flight and said that Juan Edmunds Paoa, our handling agent at the airport, is his brother - so all in family hands here. Pedro Pablo then picked up the team from television and radio right away, here everything is close together and we arranged an interview date for tomorrow Thursday 07.09. at 10:00.
