Darwin | Flight 9

Start: 04:07 (MEZ)
Landung: 10:52 (MEZ)
Flugzeit: 06 Std 45min

„After landing traffic taxi into position and hold.“ „Clear for take-off N662TC. Climb Flightlevel 190.”

Departure: 04:07 (MEZ)
Arrival: 10:52 (MEZ)
Flight time: 06 hrs 45min

After a breakfast in the executive lounge, we say goodbye to the nice service staff and check out at 07 o' clock to take a take a taxi to the airport at 08 o' clock. Sumardana and his crew are waiting for us already and mention our slot again. We walk through the airport and pass the controls without problems. We follow him into a private lounge with uniformed service staff before we leave the airport for the Malibu. We check the oil and the outside and load the luggage. Everything's fine. At 09:40 am we get into the aircraft and start the engine. We transfer the flight plan into the FMS, connect the iPads and ask for clearance.

“Departure ANCS 2a. Holding Intersection Runway 09, Intersection N6.” An ANCS is a waypoint system that tells us which ways to take while leaving the airport and the surrounding area. It usually tries to guide airplanes through uninhabited areas to keep flying noise for people living in the surrounding of an airport at a minimum. Before following the ANCS, we have to wait for an airliner to land and two other to start. "After landing traffic, taxi into position and hold”. “Clear for take-off N662TC. Climb flight level 190”.

We fly past the Indonesian Islands and have to announce our position every now and then. Having passed Kupang, we are on the direct way to Darwin. There are few clouds beneath and the blue sky above us. Headwind blows with 15-30 knots from the front left.

In Kelik the short-wave is out of reach, but we have got a satellite number. 123,85 and Relay from Singapore 252 to Darwin with the message “Curly, maintain flight level 190”. Curly is a waypoint on our way to Darwin. At 07:26, we have contact to Brisbane Center. We get the ILS onto number 29 and finally we see the Australian coast.

The approach leads us onto an arrival on ILS 29 which is directly into the sunset. We are blinded by the sun and can hardly see the runway. We thus use the automatic ILS of the Malibu and we pretty close to the ground when we see the runway. The landing is fine and we are guided into our position where an AeroCare lady awaits us together with the customs and an agriculture agent. In Australia, disinfection of the cockpit with a certified disinfectant is required before landing. We present our empty spray can that we have used at the top of descent. They approve and we are allowed to open the doors. The formalities are uncomplicated and another lady takes us to the hotel. Now we are happy to have our rooms and to have something for dinner before falling into our beds.
